Penfolds Roofing & Solar join Climate Smart
“Penfolds Roofing & Solar has been providing roofing services in BC since 1937, earning a reputation for honesty and quality craftsmanship. Penfolds measured their first greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions inventory with Climate Smart for the 2015 calendar year, and committed to an ambitious reduction plan. One of Penfolds largest controllable GHG emission is the vehicle fleet that they run. Currently they are in the process of converting a large majority of their fleet to cleaner burning propane. This will greatly help them cut down their overall emissions. Penfolds Roofing & Solar is Climate Smart certified for 2016.” – Climate Smart Business
Why Climate Smart?
Looking after the environment has always been very important at Penfolds Roofing & Solar. One of their largest selling products is also one of the most environmentally friendly, which is made largely of recycled tires. Just recently offering Solar Power to customers, one of the greenest renewable energies available, another step was taken to offer customers a green choice. Realizing that the simple operating of their day to day business emits GHG’s they are committed at measuring and reducing these GHG’s. This is why Penfolds became a member of Climate Smart. Climate Smart is a Vancouver-based social enterprise, providing expertise in to reducing GHG emissions generated by business operations.
Penfolds Greenhouse Gas Emissions Report for 2015
Using their web-based GHG management tool Climate Smart concluded that Penfolds was compliant with the GHG Protocol which is an internationally recognized standard published by the World Resources Institute and the World Business Council on Sustainable Development.
The inventory in the report included all business entities that we had direct control over including Electricity Use, Heat Use, Transporting people/Vehicles Owned, Equipment, Garbage and Paper Consumption.
Penfolds Plan for 2016
Moving forward we will work with Climate Smart to implement changes to reduce our emissions, a process which has already begun as we are busy converting our fleet to propane to help lower our overall emissions.
To help us achieve this we have an Emissions Reduction Plan, compiled for us to focus on our electricity, heat, transportation, and waste usage.
There are many changes the global community can implement to avoid serious climate change and we are very glad to contribute to our environmental future.
