Natural Old Growth Cedar Shakes
Cedar Shakes and Shingles
Cedar shakes and shingles are a popular roofing material choice for homeowners because of the natural look and warm, rustic appearance.
If you are in need of a roof replacement and looking to restore your home or business to its original state, nothing will revitalize the natural curb appeal more than a new cedar roof.
We are often asked, what is the difference between cedar shakes and cedar shingles?
- Cedar Shingles, also known as the perfection shingle, are typically milled with more precision and sawn on both the back and front sides. They can be slightly thinner than shakes and tapered from the butt end to the front edge.
- Cedar Shakes are usually cleaved from a block of cedar which typically leaves their surfaces with more irregularities and slightly thicker than cedar shingles.
We have a very special relationship with some leading lumber mills in British Columbia who provide us with the highest-quality, custom-cut wood. With Penfolds you are guaranteed the best quality cedar that can be split to any thickness and only edge grain cedar, no knots or flat grain.
