JULY 2024 UPDATE: Businesses can receive rebates from BC Hydro for solar panels and battery storage systems, effective from July 23, 2024. These rebates are designed to support businesses in enhancing their energy sustainability efforts, gaining greater control over energy costs, and increasing operational resilience.

For solar panels, rebates are offered up to $25,000 based on the installed capacity, calculated at $1,000 per kilowatt (kW). The rebate amount is capped at 50% of the total installed product cost, including labor and materials.

In addition to solar panels, businesses can qualify for up to an additional $25,000 in rebates for battery storage systems. These systems allow businesses to store excess renewable energy generated by solar panels, ensuring continuous operation during cloudy days, overnight periods, or power outages.

To participate, businesses must meet eligibility criteria. This includes being the owner or lessee of the property, having a BC Hydro business account, and ensuring the property is grid-connected. Eligible systems must connect to BC Hydro’s distribution system through the self-generation program and adhere to capacity limits.
